Since last month, I’ve been very active in the internet word war at Cong. Erin Tanada’s wordpress site. It has something to do with the division of Quezon province into two separate provinces. By next month, a plebiscite will be held in my home province for the people to decide on this issue.
I am encouraging my fellow Quezonians to vote YES for the division of Quezon.
For so many years, we from the southern part are always the least priority of the provincial government. Most of the projects are concentrated on big municipalities and cities because they have a vote-rich population. Obviously, politicians will favor them so they can retain their positions for many years.
People from the 3rd district, especially from the Bondoc Peninsula, find it hard to travel for almost a day just to get to the city capital for their official businesses. For everybody’s information, Quezon is the 6th largest province in the Philippines with 37 towns and 2 cities. Its boundaries extend from Aurora and Nueva Ecija in the North and the Bicol (Camarines provinces) in the south.
Dividing the Quezon in to two will lessen such problems. (please see my comments on http://erintanada.wordpress.com for more justifications). But it is not a guarantee that development will immediately come on our way. It will be long and tedious process but just like what I’ve said, there’s no other way but up.
Yes to Quezon del Sur.
FYI, Quezon has 2 cities and 39 municipalities, not 37.
i stand corrected. thanks bobong_pinoy.
